3.2.1 Classical management theories
Classical management theories describe how an organization must be designed to be as productive and efficient as possible. Main representatives are a.o. Fayol (Fayol, 2016) and Taylor (Taylor, 1911) so called Taylorism. They represent the postulates of specialization, hierarchical structure, the delegation of responsibility and authority, the span of control, and the subdivision of the organization into subgroups and departments. The underlying image of the human being applied to workers corresponds to that of homo oecomicus. This results in necessary management processes for the management of the organization: Manipulation, motivation and control of employees through material remuneration and remuneration systems and appropriate management systems (management systems) as well as the use of organizational coercion and the assumption of all responsibility by the management of the organization. Expectations, needs and motives of the employee are not considered. [8.1. Standard References] Fayol, H. (2016). General and industrial management. Ravenio Books. Taylor, F. W. (1911). Hauptrepräsentanten sind u.a. |
