This term refers to a variety of efforts businesses make to encourage and utilize input from their employees in the hope of improving the product quality and achieving cost reduction, workplace efficiency, customer relationship management or working conditions. These efforts take on various forms from simply placing suggestion boxes in common areas to introducing formal programmes headed by committees to review ideas and rewards for those that are adopted.[FN 32] The activities can result in a win-win situation where the employees are more involved in the business process and the employer’s profit from improved efficiency and cost reduction.

Cs correctly ascribes this assumption to Trompenaars, but she uses exactly the same words as he does in his book without making a reference to it or marking it as a quotation. (Remark: page and line numbers refer to the first edition of Trompenaars (1995)) |
